Bar Coded Boarding Passes (BCBP)

Bar Coded Boarding Passes (BCBP) use IATA industry standard 2D bar codes that enable their use on interline journeys and take advantage of the efficiencies offered by the industry's conversion to 100% electronic ticketing.

  • Airlines to become BCBP capable by end 2008 - Board Mandate
  • 100% BCBP usage by end 2010 - Board Mandate

Bar coded boarding passes enable fast, convenient check-in by enabling the passenger to print the boarding pass on a home printer and/or check-in using a Common use self-service kiosk and proceed directly to the gate.

“Along with cost savings, the most positive result of ET and BCBP has been more direct relations with our customers. Customers want to know exactly what is going on, to be more in control of their journey and to avoid the hassles of airport queues.” (Fernando Conte, CEO, Iberia)
