StB Preferred Partners

Simplifying the Business (StB) is the industry's top priority and requires the involvement of all key stakeholders including vendors and service providers. Their business knowledge, expertise and solutions, provide tangible benefits to IATA and its Member airlines and is critical in the successful implementation of the StB programme. 

Organisations providing an StB related solution can become an StB Preferred Partner in one or all of the below initiatives:

In addition to the membership privileges currently offered to Strategic Partners, StB Preferred Partners (StB PP) have exclusive benefits such as:

  • Facilitate contact between the stakeholders and StB PP
  • Access to subject matter experts and the StB Team
  • Free participation to StB workshops
  • Exhibition space at StB regional workshops (when available)
  • Sponsorship opportunities at various StB workshops
  • When relevant, work with StB Team on content of StB workshop content (i.e. airline case studies)
  • Opportunity to promote products/services at spotlight sessions at StB workshops (when available)
  • Access to special StB Session (when offered)
  • Access to the Strategic Partnerships Extranet site
  • StB Strategic Partner logo
  • Listing on StB Preferred Partner online directory
  • StB Preferred Partners involved in the BCBP and/or CUSS initiatives can download the CUSS & BCBP Implementation Guides, free of charge, from the BCBP extranet private pages.

To be eligible to become an IATA StB Preferred Partner, an industry supplier needs to meet the following criteria:

  • 1. Be an active IATA Strategic Partner involved in at least one of the following area of involvement: Passenger and Airport Services, Cargo Services, Revenue Accounting, Automatic Identification Standards or Common User Self-Service or 2D Bar-Code
  • 2. The supplier's product/service is relevant to the StB initiative and is inline with IATA's standards (note 1 and note 2)
  • 3. The supplier has already implemented the StB solution in at least one airline
  • 4. Provide 2 reference letters from airline Members to prove client's satisfaction of StB product/service delivery
  • 5. Complete an StB Company Profile Form and receive approval from the IATA StB Team for each initiative of interest

Note 1
*For RFID this means:

  • The supplier is a chip/reader manufacturer - they must support the IATA standard and manufacture products that can be used in the aviation environment, OR
  • The supplier is a middleware provider - they must offer a well-defined supporting strategy and have significant aviation experience OR
  • The provider is a baggage systems provider that has demonstrated delivery of RFID systems

*For Fast Travel this means:

  • The supplier has products that are implemented in the Passenger journey including Check-in, Passenger Baggage processing, Automated Documentation Checks / data collection, Automated access and egress systems

*For BIP this means:

  • The supplier has products that are implemented in a typical baggage handling system such as a baggage reconciliation system, message distribution system, baggage handling mechanics or sort allocation software (with or without RFID components) OR
  • The supplier is a manufacturer of baggage labels (with or without RFID) OR
  • The supplier is a manufacturer of check-in equipment such as baggage tag printers, hand – held computers or portable devices OR
  • The supplier is producer of RFID equipment that can be integrated into a baggage handling system, check-in or ramp operation.

Note 2
*For e-freight this means:

  • Be an active IATA Strategic Partner subscribing to at least the area of Cargo Services (CGO)
  • The supplier's product/service is relevant to the StB initiatives and is inline with IATA's standards
  • Must undertake to support the e-freight vision, the pilots and the e-messaging quality measurement in accordance with IATA’s requirements, including those requirements set out in IATA’s Vendor Pack.
